On April 6, 2025, over 50 passionate volunteers and community members gathered at 3 Zero House Community Space, both in-person and online, to participate in a full-day Emergency Awareness & First Aid Training, co-organized by Simple Solutions for Change (SSFC) and 3 Zero House Myanmar.
This hybrid training aimed to enhance volunteer readiness and provide practical emergency skills for effective response during natural disasters. The training brought together local and international experts to deliver timely and critical knowledge.
Key Highlights from the Training
Disease Outbreak Awareness Session
Led by Ms. Stacy Lane, Director of Public Health, Town of Norwood (USA), this online session offered essential insights into disease prevention and outbreak management during post-disaster periods. August provided real-time interpretation for local participants.
Dos & Don’ts for Disaster Volunteers
Facilitated by Ma Shwe Mar (SSFC), this practical session focused on field safety, effective communication, and key responsibilities when volunteering in high-pressure environments.
Hands-On First Aid Training
Delivered by U Htoon Lwin Oo, a trainer from WSH Myanmar, the in-person afternoon session covered vital emergency response techniques — from CPR and bleeding control to fracture stabilization. Participants actively practiced with first-aid kits and real-world scenarios.
Why It Mattered
In a country where natural disasters are becoming more frequent, the need for trained, prepared volunteers is more urgent than ever. This training helped bridge that gap by empowering participants with real, actionable knowledge to support their communities when it matters most.
